Development Programme

A programme for Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils who require a far more personalised package than a mainstream school can offer. Pupils follow a core curriculum of English, Maths, Science, Citizenship and Literacy in the mornings in Year 10 and 11. Year 9 pupils also study Creative ICT and ART. KS4 pupils are entered for GCSE or entry level qualifications.

In the afternoons pupils select options that reflect their interests and strengths. Some Year 10 and 11 pupils will select more GCSEs whilst others choose more vocational courses such as sport or child care. Pupils can of course select a mixture of both.

Some pupils choose part time college or work experience placements. The AQA Unit Award Scheme ensures that no matter the interest, pupils are accredited for their work and commitment.

On a Friday afternoon pupils select recreational options such as outdoor and adventurous activities or cooking.

In addition to an academic programme pupils also attend therapeutic groups, receive mentoring and attend Parent and Child sessions.
