Tools 4 School is a holistic educational and therapeutic programme for pupils at risk of permanent exclusion. Pupils enter into the programme at the beginning of a term or half term in order to follow a minimum 6 week or a maximum of 12 weeks programme.
At the beginning of the programme pupils complete academic, cognitive and behaviour assessments in order to ascertain their baselines and decide on the best way forward.
It is holistic in that we seek to engage the whole of the student as the causes of challenging behaviour stem from complex psychosocial factors. Therefore, in addition to an academic programme pupils also attend therapeutic groups, receive mentoring and attend Parent and Child sessions.
We explore the systems around the pupil by working with external agencies, their mainstream school and other stakeholders to bring a consistent approach.
Progress is assessed via ‘Key Performance Indicators’ which measure outcomes of the programme and helps to create behaviour plans and strategies which are fed back to the pupil’s mainstream school and their parents. Support is also available to assist in reintegration back to mainstream school.
