The Wonder Years

Last week The Skills Hub held an event called “The Wonder Years”. It was a fun careers event that aims to engage and inspire students with successful local business people/entrepreneurs. The event was in partnership with Chris Cahill, an events organiser who is interested in launching a mentoring programme with young people in the local community.

The main hall was transformed into an roller skating arena, with students helping out on the decks and choosing some of their favourite songs to skate along to. Some occupations of the mentors included: Semi-professional Footballer, local boxing champ, DJ and Music Producer, Marketing Manager, Film Maker, Fashion Specialist, Dancer, Model and Sales Manager.

Deputy Head, Paul Chamber said “it was great to see students engaging with the mentors and just having such a great time! Most definitely an event we will be holding again soon!”

You have kept my son safe and in school for which I am truly grateful. I hope that when he leaves he will be the biggest success story for The Skills Hub so that in the future other kids can look up to him.
